Land Based Wildlife Tours

New for 2010, San Juan Outfitters is pleased to present a land based wildlife tour. This tour will traverse the island stopping at the most beautiful and interesting scenic spots, and spend some time hiking and looking for different wildlife at each spot. From animals on land, in air and in the sea, the wildlife on San Juan Island is abundant, and we can’t wait to show it to you.

Our experienced and educated guides will show you the best areas to look for wildlife and teach you to identify and interpret the behavior seen. We’ll use high quality binoculars and spotting scopes to look at large raptors, migratory birds, foxes, orca, minke or gray whales, harbor or Dall’s porpoise, seals, sea lions and other marine mammals in in the straits.

This is a great chance to learn more about the history of the island, view incredible wildlife in different habitats, and hike some of the prettiest trails all with experienced naturalist guides. The areas we’ll visit range from grassy bluffs to rocky beaches and sand dunes to wooded trails. This tour is perfect for photography buffs or those who want to see a sampler of the island without getting wet. We provide clean and comfortable transportation, so you can leave your car on the mainland and still experience all that San Juan Island has to offer.
