Boutiques and shops abound in Friday Harbor, often operated by their owners. Many talented artists reside on this island whose works can be purchased in many of these shops.
For entertainment, we have both a community theater presenting plays and musical events, as well as a small movie theater in town.

Adventures around the island
Bike or Moped. You can see a lot of the island by moped or bike. Rent one in Friday Harbor to begin your adventure.
Whether on bike or moped, be aware that the roads are winding and have blind corners. Many roads are gravel, which is not a problem if you stay alert.
Swim in the ocean (if you like 45F degree water). South Beach has the longest accessible public shoreline. If you’re staying at Lakedale there’s a nice little swimming hole or a pool at Earthbox Motel.
Dive/Snorkel Jacques Cousteau said the San Juan Islands were one of his favorite cold water diving locations. If you have your own equipment, snorkeling and diving can be a fun activity to check out some underwater marine life. Make sure you are familiar with the local laws and protected areas.
Hiking There are many wonderful public lands with established trails on San Juan Island. Some of the better-known options are the American Camp National Historical Park area, British Camp area, Mt Finlayson, and the Lime Kiln state park trails.
