Marine Naturalist

Helena's love for the ocean stemmed from spending her childhood swimming and sailing in the waters of the Cape Cod National Seashore. She grew up just outside of Boston and graduated from Smith College in 2020 with a degree in biological studies and sociology. During her undergraduate studies she had the flexibility to explore many facets of the biology department, including human health and marine biology. She had the pleasure of researching intertidal species of the southern Maine coast and saltmarsh ecosystems on Cape Cod, MA.

Following graduation, Helena worked for Colorado's Department of Public Health on their COVID-19 Relief Team. Last October she had the opportunity to fulfill a longtime dream of visiting the Salish Sea and seeing Orcas -- a dream that came true on a San Juan Island Safari boat! She's so excited about returning to the Island to continue to explore its fascinating flora and fauna
