Piper grew up in land-locked states, dreaming of the ocean. At 18 she moved from Kansas City, Missouri to Fort Collins, Colorado and earned Bachelors degrees in Biological Sciences and Zoology from Colorado State University.
After graduation, she was accepted to the Royal Veterinary College in London where she earned a Master of Science in Wild Animal Biology. Her thesis research centered on using photo-identification and GIS mapping to establish known-ranges of bottlenose dolphins in the Atlantic waters in southern Portugal. Piper spent three summers researching in Portugal before moving to Friday Harbor in 2017.
This is Piper's second season on San Juan Island and she is thrilled to have made a home in such a beautiful place, surrounded by tons of amazing wildlife!
